Parents on the brink of breaking up: grown-up children as a therapeutic resource

The presence of the two grown-up children in the session together with their parents mobilizes positive energies in the session and makes in evidence their understanding of the situation and their care for their parents.
Irene and Mark are twins and recently moved out of the house in order to fulfil their professional carriers. They are 22 years old, but definitively more mature than their young age. They have a clear sense of the parents’ dynamics and the risk of them splitting after having been fantastic and dedicated parents.
Irene is closer to mum and Mark to dad. Irene is able to connect with mum’s feelings of loneliness, being far away from South Africa, and gives voice to her despair while Mark seems able to show empathy for father’s shyness and difficulty to get rid of his overdependency from his own mother and reach a personal authority.
The true history of this family is played by four actors able to simulate and identify with each member of the family.
