In this lecture, Prof. Maurizio Andolfi outlines how to use children resources in family therapy. He describes his shift from individual therapy for problematic children to working with the entire family and he explains how to engage actively fathers and siblings in session. Then, according his method, Andolfi includes another generation (grandparents and extended family) in his observation of family history and child’s presenting problem. The therapist’s main tools are relational questioning, metaphorical objects, family genograms, as well as family tasks and contracts. Andolfi describes well the use of imagination, creativity and physical contact to connect with the child in order to transform his symptoms and to heal families in distress.
